Philippine Presidential Elections 2010: My Experience
I woke up 7 in the morning, when I actually planned to wake up at 5am (just like what happened at iBlog6). Waking up early really isn’t my thing, trust me
.
So why do I have to get up that early? Oh well, the crammer in me strikes again! I still had to finalize my cheat list. And I still had to figure out how I could update my Twitter via SMS.
But I woke up at 7 instead when I planned to be at the elementary school by 7. Rawr! I don’t want to get run out of ballots. And the first thing I saw are my parents already leaving! Waaa!
Oh well, since I am such a great crammer, I was able to leave the house by 8:00 am with my finalized cheat list and my phone ready for mobile tweeting, thanks to Tweetitow!
On my way to Tinabunan Elementary School, there are a people who are giving away sample ballots.
But what surprised me is that there are actually people who are distributing these sample ballots inside the elemetary school to people who are patiently waiting in line.
Thank goodness it was easy for me to find my precinct. And to my surprise, my parents who were early were still waiting in line, so I joined them. Lucky for us, our precinct was the first classroom, so the line was at the side and people could sit at the plant box
. hehehe

It turns out that PCOS machine had morning sickness. Read the rest of this entry »

My Thoughts on the upcoming May 2010 Presidential Elections
So I am suppose to continue my birthday celebration series. But I decided to continue with that tomorrow instead. I just have to express how I feel with the upcoming May 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections. Just minutes ago, I attended a webinar entitled “Automated Elections 101: A Step-by-Step Guide” and earlier this morning my mom read an e-mail to me aloud – it’s about the ballot and how sensitive it is. For my international readers, FYI, the Philippines would be undergoing an automated elections for the first time.
The upcoming May 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections continue to bother me. As I picture it on my mind, I see angry people. I see people who are mad because their voices were not heard. They are people who are trying to exercise their right to vote but for some reason their votes weren’t counted. I am afraid to be one of them. I am a first time voter. And I am really looking forward to May 10, 2010. Elections is just 9 days away. And I don’t want my ballot to be marked REJECTED.
As I watch the news on television, I feel sad and bothered. No absentee voting election seemed to be a success. It’s as if they all encountered problems – problems with the PCOS machine, problems with the ballot, problems with the actual voting, etc. One time they say PCOS machine was the one with problem, the next time they say the ballot got shrunk because of the temperature, and then all of a sudden the PCOS machine that’s said to be broken would work and read the ballot they claimed that shrunk. It’s crazy! But good for them their votes got counted. What about those ballots that got rejected by the PCOS machine for the 5th time? Bye bye ballot, bye bye vote.
There is a lack of information dissemination. Sure, the mainstream media does its part on educating the voters. Read the rest of this entry »
